DomainKeys is an email authentication system designed to verify that an email message was sent by an authorized sender and has not been altered during transit. It works by attaching a digital signature to the header of an email, which the receiving mail server can then cryptographically validate using a public key published in the sender's DNS records. This process helps prevent email spoofing and ensures that the integrity of the message remains intact from the source to the destination.
